The ring.

I’m a big fan of horror films so a couple of weeks ago I sat down and watched The Ring.
I’ve heard people say before how scary it was so I wanted to see for myself if it was any good. I liked how it started off... with the girl dying and her aunt wondering if there was any truth behind the rumour of how she died, that got me interested.
The only part of the film that really lost me was to do with the horses, which was annoying because they kept popping up during the film which made the end of the film a bit confusing for me and I hate getting to the end of the film and still not understand what’s going on (I was tired when I watched this, I’m going to try and watch it again to see if it makes any more sense).
The film did make me jump a couple of times though, which was good because I love a good jumpy film but I felt like it could have had more of the scarier stuff at the start and middle of the film because I only really felt the film got started towards the end, but hey that’s just my personal opinion.
Overall I’d rate this film a 7/10, not bad, watchable, but there was something missing...

Circle of eight.

I don't even know where to start with this film.

When I first put it on, I thought it looked pretty normal. Nothing to weird- yet. But then the film started to get going...

Jessica (the new girl in the building) started seeing dead bodies of her new neighbours everywhere then they would suddenly disappear. At this point I thought there was a killer in the building and he was hiding the bodies before anyone else could see them, which would have been fine.
But no, towards the end of the film you find out that they aren't really dead, or they are but they haven't just been killed? I don't know, it was pretty confusing.

Also throughout the film you see clips of a couple of people swimming and then later find out that its Jessica and her little brother, and that he drowned because she didn't save him, she put herself first.

Another thing that happens throughout the film is that you get the feeling that they all already knew Jessica by the way they were acting around her (especially Evan, her love interest).

Some other bits happened that were even more confusing but I'm not going to go into all of it...

So basically at the end of the film Jessica and Evan are getting it on in her room and then a fire starts. A wardrobe falls and traps Evan and Jessica has to decide to stay whether to stay with Evan or jump out of the window. She jumps.
And then the film starts from the beginning (skipping bits of course)... which made things start to make a bit more sense, but not a lot.
This time around when the fire starts and Evan gets trapped but Jessica decides to stay with him and then the film ends?
So basically, they were all stuck in a cycle until she decides to stay with Evan and 'save him' because she didn't save her little brother. Very disappointing. I didn't understand why the two were related, expect for the fact that Jessica was involved in them both. I mean she couldn't even save Evan, she could only really wait and die with him.
I'd rate this film about 3/7, maybe a bit harsh but a lot of the film really did seem pointless.
